flex fuel hack?

Unread postby Pappacosworth » Fri Sep 08, 2017 12:18 pm

Innovate has new 4in1 meter that has analog outputs. One of them is ethanol content "Brown wire: Ethanol % 0V = 0% Ethanol 5V = 100% Ethanol"
I thought can this be used to control fuel multiplier to control fuel amount in ratio to ethanol?

I don't know of a way other than just using that information to set z_afr.

I meant realtime correction, like in Ford Flexfuel models.

yes it can be done, requires someone writing the code to do it

its a bit more involved than that, the AFR scalar, crank pw, target lambda, transient fuel, and spark advance also need to be adjusted at a minimum

thats something i worked on but had no need nor desire to finish as of yet, in the near future i hope ill be getting back to it

youd need a superlogger to get the values piped into the QH, some QH firmware code needs to be written there to have a fresh set of values updated every loop and accessible on the mbus for the ecu to have access to it

Yes realtime. But how often does the fuel change composition?
Also thinking along the lines of superlogger.

Question is how often does your strategy read slope values or z afr?
Slope values are relevant to a particular viscosity fluid. How does bio fuel viscosity vary from unleaded?

yea could do that too

fuel make up changes quite a bit when topping off with an alternate fuel, as the pump runs and recircs the fuel it mixes it more

correct, slopes are not usually affected by alternate fuels mostly the stoich AFR
