yeah thata the norm. Usually when I toss them injectors in all usually goes pretty easy.

yeah id keep the cam. Might as well keep the lifters if your keeping the cam just mark where each one goes and its orientation so they go back in same as they came out.
unless theyre damaged or your upping the compression no need in replacing the pistons
why are you machining the block or replacing the crank?
if budget is your objective why not just pull it down and inspect it? if all is well just pass a ball hone through it and re assemble with new bearings and rings and done.
id score a set of early gt40 heads if you can.
