Re: Actual Spark vs MBT & BDL

Mint, so if actual is lets say correct, then is that what were theoretically getting?

In this Calibration I'm using is it pretty much on the ECT and ACT retard functions that should be modifying timing or is there a bit more to it?

Re: Load With Failed Maf Correction

On the dyno trying to hit some of these cells and keep them populating for a few seconds, tough to do and the engine sure wants to get hot being warm up here atm!

What is the general consensus with this first table I populated. Multiply some of these values in certain zones per say and try to smooth it all out.

did u look at ect and act retard functions?
So with that being said what value is more important to watch on the datalogger, Actual or Borderline. I mean if actual is actual and I'm only actually getting x amount of spark ignition timing then is that where I'm lacking in the power production department. What would be removing a few degrees of spark, I read it uses the lowest values and it looks like the Borderline spark table is lower then the MBT table, MBT table looks healthy and I can't see that coming into play, also read your cals should be using the borderline table and obviously adders and subtractors.

Re: Actual Spark vs MBT & BDL

Yea I think I've found the right ones, They don't look like they would be limiting anything the way there set up. When I had ACT sitting around 100-120
deg f I lowered the 130deg cell value then also found out those cells get divided by 10 which would be 0.2 and I'm seeing a bit more then that.

I also found this list of spark source values online, Guessing this is accurate data when looking at actual spark.

Re: Load With Failed Maf Correction

Awesome, I'll go see what I can populate with it. Is there a way to to use the copy of the whole histogram table and then apply the correction to the whole table in the calibration like in HPT Vcm Suite where we can copy the whole table and then paste special multiply by half or % to the calibrations table. I didn't see a function in TP to be able to apply the correction to the whole table, but may be missing something.

Load With Failed Maf Correction

Just checking in to see if this is the right histogram to use for LWFM table correction, as well is there any calibration changes that need to be implemented first before correcting this table such as disabling KAMRF, tuning in CL or OL, unplugging the maf and having it failed to populate the histogram, making sure the MAF is dialed first and trims are working well?

Populate as much of the table as we can and then smooth / interpolate any cells that we can't hit ?

Actual Spark vs MBT & BDL

Looking for clarification when datalogging, if we are watching the actual spark value and it is dropping compared to the MBT or BDL spark values is the actual spark value what the engine is getting for ignition timing.

At any given time the actual spark delivered is the lowest spark the ecu calculates.

With that being said if I'm commanding 17 degrees in the Borderline table but only getting 14 degrees actual what is causing this. Surfed the timing write up as well as all retard functions that I could find and not seeing reason to be losing actual spark. Log and file attached, mid range the actual spark drops and doesn't follow the BDL table.

Re: 03 cobra - SCT Tuning questions

So if its showing 17 degrees WOT on the BL spark pid but showing 12.5 on the actual then the engine is actually only getting 12.5 degrees spark ?

Does it follow the BL table and modifiers and is the goal to get the actual spark advance up to where were commanding it? Why would the actual spark advance be lower ?

I also noticed that fuel is working properly now and actually richening up when its goes beyond 0 vac and into boost where as before it was struggling to actually richen up at lower boost levels. If perload doesn't control fuel on this strat is it all based upon Tp_Rel and how the base table is set up and then of course referencing MAf ?

Trims are fine imo and working fairly well for what it is, not going to chase them to far and it is what it is with those injectors.

I agree that whoever is tuning a vehicle is responsible for the tune, I do want to make sure its done thoroughly though and that is why I'm trying to post good data for feed back so I can understand anymore possible issues if there are any seen. Of course as well its a great learning experience if another one comes my way and I can make it run correctly.

What's the trick to making power on this thing, I see its super sensitive to a proper AFR, and I can hit .780 but seem to lose power. I touched .800 lamda and gained 20rwhp but not so sure its safe for 20lbs boost. What would you say is a good lamda to shoot for and how much timing at what RPM?

Re: 03 cobra - SCT Tuning questions

Anyone have any input how to finish this one up, my thoughts are as follows. Confirm Cold start and warm up do what they need to do and is not overly rich, adjust if necessary?

Confirm trims are within 3% ish up to about 350 - 400 ad counts and or Tp_Rel depending on 0 vac 0 boost and when we have it kicking into OL ?

Is FN035 active and needs to be dialed in on these ? The fuel write up says its not used if I read it correctly on these strats but may be custom coded and active. I see the PRLDSW is set to 1

Confirm wot fueling is stabile and consistent throughout and then make sure spark is doing what it needs to do and no modifiers are coming into play that would have negative effects on the engine. Make sure things like ACT spark retard etc are working

Possibly scale load but may be ok to leave it be until future mods are done needing more resolution on those tables.

Does a guy have to fail the maf and dial in the failed maf table, from my understanding these are used for transient fueling and like a VE table ?

What else affects accelerator pump action if the initial stab is lean or rich ?

Adjust hot start if there is an issue of course.
