Re: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 for Coil-near-plug swap

thats all up to you as the tuner and how involved you want to get with

but yeah you have to use the crai8 file since you cant edit the craia craib or any of the others.

Re: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 for Coil-near-plug swap

the xdf file isnt different, its crai8 as well

whats the purpose in writing over the file?

yeah its pretty common for ecus to get updated when a vehicle goes in for service

read the comments for each parameter and it will tell you what its for

Re: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 for Coil-near-plug swap

You cant edit a craib file with crai8 its two different strategies, youll corrupt the file
also all you have to do is open the scp id scalar in tunerpro and it will show you the strategy / cal code tag

you need to download the yya2 file in the crai8 downloads, thats a stock 99 crown vic cal. yya2 is the police bin so theft is already disabled. 63.99 if max value (0xFF == null) which means your vid block wasnt setup on your ecu. Thats not uncommon.

the original bin file you read out can be deleted its absolutely useless since you dont need the pats code or vin from it.

I have a conversion script in the programming section of the forum to automatically convert file sizes for you.

Re: A9L Error Code 15

that means you didnt diisable the kam clear patch correctly

what do you mean you didnt change much from what i had- disabled patch? disabled what patch?

spark is supposed to drop on closed throttle at higher rpms thats the objective

thats not backfires thats decel burble, it means you dont have enough delta pressure. You can simply kick up spark on decel to reduce it but in doing so it will tske longer for rpms to fall and youll have less torque reserve

nope, fueling has nothing to do with throttle position. Sounds like you need to dial in your fuel injectors.

Re: VID Block Corrupted

I could maybe understand blacking out the last 4 of your vin but absolutely no need to black out the pats code

assuming you put in your actual vin and your pats code matches from the original read then yeah all good to go. you can go ahead and write it and enjoy.

Re: VID Block Corrupted

first thing u have to do is convert the file from 224 to 256. I have a script in the programming section to do it for you.

enable the vid block
plug in your vin
compare your pats code from the original read and make sure its the same
plug in your tire size and gear ratio

save the file then drag and drop it to convert it back to 224k

then write it with pcmflash

if pcmflash still gives you an error then that means your vid block on the ecu itself is jacked up.

simply go to the options in pcmflash and check recovery mode

then write the file no prob

Re: A9L Error Code 15

well correction its not in there

im not sure where i put it but ill add it there

in any case you CANNOT have any wiring modifications on the factory hego wiring. You cannot use extensions and you definitely cannot tap it for a gauge.

All narrowband rich lean gauges REQUIRE A DEDICATED HEGO. The hego CANNOT accurately control fuel when the hego or the factory wiring is tapped.

Hegos are voltage generators, its impossible for them to generate a rich voltage without a rich mixture.

Most widebands read incorrectly at low flow conditions. This is why narrowband o2 sensors should always be used for dialing in fuel up to half throttle where the wideband should then be reading much more stable.
