Cold Start

Ive been working on my cold start. The issue im having is when i first start the car the engine comes up to around 1500-1800 rpm then quickly drops to below idle and surges for few seconds before coming back up to around 1500 rpm again. Where do i need to look at to correct this?

if camshaft, intake, heads, exhaust are different then that also has an affect. anything thats changes the airflow in the engine can and will have an affect on the maf transfer curve. theres a lot variables besides maf, filter and intake tube setup. something to keep in mind is an engine is a big air pump.

I changed the filter from a small cone to bigger cone style K&N and changed the aluminum C&L elbow to custom 4" elbow and had to change my MAF curve by close to 10%-12% to get it right. So keep in mind that those things play a huge factor in the transfer curve.

Does fuel error go to 1.30 at WOT? if so thats normal i think. At WOT fuel error is irrelevant, at that point youre comparing wideband lambda to commanded lambda.

I haven't drove the truck yet, still have to replace brake lines and install the new tank. I was thinking in terms of my fox, adding the QH and tuning it made a big difference in drive ability over the factory tune. If doing the same to truck then it would be worth it but if theres no real benefit then ill save my money and spend it on something else.

Thats awesome! i dont plan on modifying this truck at all. i was looking more drive ability and maybe a little added torque from a better timing curve.

95 F150 4.9L

I just picked up a 95 F150 4.9 4x4 auto this past weekend. Im already using a quarterhorse on my 86 Capri but i was wandering if there would be any benefit tuning this 4.9. This is not a hotrod or woods truck but just a daily.
