Bracket racing with a 2 step

I bracket race a 1988 Foxbody with EEC and a Quarter Horse. I use a 2 step which means when I am at the starting line with it engaged the engine is "misfiring". Sometimes after a number of passes my car will slow down by a .10 of a second and then continue to do so on the next runs that ev...

Voltage at pin 30 during start up

Is it always true that there is voltage at pin 30 when key is in start position cranking (10 volts +/-)? I have seen posts say this is not good and it will burn pin 30 or pin 46 circuit inside the EEC.

return to idle

My engine remains at high idle longer than I would like it to after high engine revs. Is there a timer or something else I can change to make it return to idle rpm sooner?

Re: maf curve or slopes

Great questions and answers on this post. One more question should the MAF curve. Should it be at or near max voltage (5v) as the engine reaches maximum horsepower and RPM? Also a comment for this post. Make sure you look at your loads so that your AFR is not changed by being over 100% load in the f...

Re: MAF Transfer

I have a "calibrated ProFlo" for 24lb injectors. I have a cold air scoop under the front of the car. The intake tube is 3.5" with a screen in front of the maf.

Re: MAF Transfer

Ok, I have EEC set for open loop all the time, at least I followed Decipha instructions to do so. I have my wide band in the passenger side. I can switch it to the drivers side and then how do I disable the HEGO on the driver side, I will put the HEGO back in the passenger side. I really only use th...

Re: MAF Transfer

sorry I think I misspoke. it is more like one tenth or less? please see log. Passenger side HEGO is not installed. Any comments about my divergence in readings on the AFR's? Or other comments about log. Still trying to get MAF curve right. When I am adjusting MAF I am assuming I keep the voltage as ...

Re: MAF Transfer

Ok what do you make of this? When I adjust my MAF curve to a lower value, (same voltage lower air flow), which should make fuel leaner. My digital gauge on my LC-1 goes generally leaner (it is still jumping all over the place) and my gauge in TunerPro running thru my EEC and same LC-1 goes richer. A...

Re: MAF Transfer

I have installed the new MAF curve and injector slopes. My LC-1 digital gauge is jumping all over the place and I have recalibrated it twice. I am assuming that I need to adjust my MAF. This is mainly happening at idle and slight rev. not driving until I get things a little closer. Now where to go w...

failure mode

How do I know if I am in failure mode? Can I disable failure mode? How do I get out of failure mode? Trying to set idle rpm.

Re: MAF Transfer

Thanks I will do that. Now should I use the posted injector slopes, breakpoint and offsets for the A302 24lb injectors even though my Pro Flow MAF is supposedly calibrated to the stock EEC?

MAF Transfer

I have a "calibrated Pro Flow MAF" it is set up for my 24 lb injectors. I am trying to dial in MAF and fuel per Fueling 101 / MAF Transfer. I am using the A9L2 bin. Should I be using the stock foxbody MAF curve for 19 lb injectors or something else to get started on the MAF? It is very dif...

Wide band and Narrow band

I am going to buy a wide band to help with tuning. Do I remove one of my narrow bands temporarily or put in a new bung? Do I remove the wide band when not tuning? Do I hook the WB up through my A9L EEC to data log? I am assuming the WB does nothing to the EEC other than allow data logging thru it? T...

Load and LoadX

On the PID "PRLDSW" Percent Load Switch, I have a box to check or leave blank. How does that correspond to your article on scaling 101 which says to set PRLDSW = 0. Is it set to 0 if the box is not checked? Thanks, Scott

Re: MAP vs BAP

Yes, I have had it open and it looks good inside. The fuel pump comes on at key on, comes to pressure and shuts off also. I guess it just has some glitch in it. Maybe bad components and they just are not leaking.

Re: MAP vs BAP

I also have a A9T and it does not run rich when it is in the car. It is the EEC I run most of the time. I was trying to tune the A3M1 with the Quarterhorse and it ran rich with the Quarterhorse on it and still rich with the Quarterhorse not connected to the A3M1. That is why I think the A3M1 is bad?...

Re: MAP vs BAP

I have a A3M1 that is stock but runs super rich whenever I put it on my car, turns spark plugs black and slows the car down almost a second in the 1/4 mile. I suspect the A3M1 is corrupt, would you agree? If so I assume my only alternative is to trade it in on a rebuild from Cardone?

MAP vs BAP

Is there a difference between the 89 -93 computers that use BAP vs MAP or are all MAF cars BAP. If not what is the effect of running a BAP with a MAP computer? Is a an A3M1 a BAP or MAP? thanks

on the pin out for the GUFB PIN 50 is blank, does the MAF 5+ go there? How do I test for the 30 pin trans connection.

EEC wiring auto vs manual

Is there a difference between the EEC 60 pin plug in the car between a auto and manual trans? If so where can I view the wiring diagram. I have 88 LX with conversion to MAF, was a stick now a C-4. Want to make sure wiring is correct. Of course with C-4 no connection to EEC.

Physical fix EEC-IV

Does anyone know of a person that fixes failed EEC-IV's. I seem to remember it being mentioned in some other posts. What is a reasonable price to pay for repair?

Re: spout out?

I am currently running a stock A9T tune on an unmodified EEC-IV. I have been racing with it for 3 years and no real problems until this year after putting long tubes on. I turned the 11.91 ET this spring (cool weather) and have had some "shutting down" issues as the weather gets hotter - n...

Re: spout out?

Thanks, I agree. I am in the process of learning to tune with the quarterhorse. I have set up the sea level timing table. My next goal is to set wide open throttle fuel mixture. I am reading your fuel 101, and I do not have a wide band, hopefully I can figure it out. Because I do not drive the car m...

Re: spout out?

When using a stock EEC, it stops the computer from messing with the timing during bracket drag racing resulting in more consistent run times.

spout out?

Can you run EEC-IV with the spout out and timing set at 36 degrees, ie locked rotor or will that affect other EEC functions?
