Re: SD2x tuning- Spark output, changed by ECT/ACT?

Now that I'm back at it- pretty good base tune, VE was pretty far off for a stock 460, though. It had some weirdness in the Y scaling on the base spark map that I didn't have, but maybe I changed it long ago. I'm not overtly familiar, but using your new XDF on the tune I was toying with didn't yield any result, but it does on your base tune- I don't know why. I'm pretty sure that XDFs just work with the BIN, unless you have to specifically do something to the BIN. Do you? Are you a wizard? Either way, my spark seems to be close to where I put it now, even with the neat table you set-up for ECT and ACT retard. That was very much not the case on the previous tune. Now to drive around and let my old lady type on my laptop when I say "Pull a degree". Gotta enjoy it. PS: I saw a few things in that XDF that I didn't see previously. Am I blind, or did you add an adjustment to the rev limit? If I notice anything forum-worthy, I'll come back. Thanks!

SD2x tuning- Spark output, changed by ECT/ACT?

Hello, world! I'm in this truck, sweating heavily. Been trying to tune this truck the best I can ('88 F250, 460) for a couple years. Runs decent, runs pretty well, but we're not all here for decent!

My spark output isn't quite what I'd like it to be, always a bit retarded from the goal. I'm sure if I spent 40 hours I'd figure out how to get machine code to something readable, figure out the table, figure out how to make TunerPro get to that section, figure out this, figure out that. Or, maybe I wouldn't!
My assumption is ACT/ECT has a table or function or something to make this occur. I don't know, I'm a certified master automobile technician, not an absolute machine like Decipha.

I see this part of the forum isn't used much, so I'm not gonna hold my breath. I do know that the XDFs for other things have been updated with cool stuff, but I feel limited in my SD2x. I see that the SD4x ECMs have far more fun stuff, and have the same inputs (according to wiring diagrams), would it just behoove me to grab one, throw on my Quarterhorse, and upload a more refined... everything?

Also, what hardware limitations are stopping me from running SD4x code on this SD2x? I assume it's a no-go, but I gotta ask. I mean, I tried. It runs, but terribly, to no one's surprise. So SD2x is what I've been messing with. I was just hoping the magic of emulation would turn my frown upside down. Seems like the MAP scaling is way off when I did try, running rich as a pig, and the "displacement" and other bits seemed to be unrealistic numbers with the SD4x bin, xdf, etc. I don't know- I'm just some weirdo who wants to know.

At any rate, what are the forum's thoughts? Pray for an updated SD2x? Swap in an SD4x? Cry? All are valid answers!

PS. I nabbed that 460 starting point off the forums back in '22, for a fella named Dave. So, at least I had a good starting point.
