Re: Multi-purpose Rollcage possible? Nhra, scca, nasa legal?

no u only need to cerify when u crack the 9s, most tracks will even waive a rollbar in the 10s as many stockish vehicles can run that these days, our local track stopped requiring it when we showed up with 15+ stockish cars one day all running 10s lol in any case, as long as your not running a sanc...

Multi-purpose Rollcage possible? Nhra, scca, nasa legal?

Ive been doing a lot of reading on what is required of different organizations (scca, nasa, nhra) and they all seem to differ on what is required. A rollbar is easier to satisfy everyone and i thought of going that route as it doesnt need to be recertified every few years..... i just like the safety...

Re: T56 magnum wide(2.97) vs close ratio(2.66)?

Yeah i kinda figured that, im hoping 1st wont be too bad when i switch to 3.55s or 3.31 (depending on trap speed when i finally get an acceptable run) being an all round car though not just a drag car i think the close ratio should be good for what i use it for (i hope, expensive purchase having nev...

Re: T56 magnum wide(2.97) vs close ratio(2.66)?

Ended up ordering the 2.66 close ratio t56 magnum, mcleod RXT clutch and quicktime bellhousing, she pulls hard higher rpms im hoping whatever i lose 60ft with the tall 1st ill gain on the top end by keeping the rpms higher between the shifts

T56 magnum wide(2.97) vs close ratio(2.66)?

Anyone spent time behind both ratios and have any inpressions to post about? Leaning towards the close(2.66 1st) ratio because of the useable 6th gear and im sure the vortech will favor closer ratios but how much will the 2.66 1st hurt compared to the 2.97? Got a set of 26" hoosier qtp's for th...

Re: tial q 50mm bov open or closed at idle

The bypass should be open (bypassing air) at idle and high engine vacuum.

When you rev it the bypass should close when you snap the throttle open(low vacuum) and then open and bypass air once the throttle blade closes

Re: High RPM datalog discrepancy

Im seeming to have a high rpm discrepancy also since changing to the universal adx?
, did grounding the distributor fix it? My logs have been showing a lot less rpm than the tach or shift light, but have the msd limiter alsoset at 62.

Re: Harmonic balancer for blower

It did have a very slight vibe for a while before this all went on, probably the beginning of the balancer losening off. thought it was coming from driveshaft.
No copper when i drained the pan and she was making good oilpressure whenbi put it in the shop

Re: Harmonic balancer for blower

I'm on the fence about it.
the new balancer is a wicked tight fit, can feel it will need some persuasion to get it on, the old balancer slid on by hand basically, and no locktite on the bolt. So the key was doing all the work

Bah, still undecided which way to go ,have a powerbond sfi race balancer sittING at the parts store(single keyway standard size oil seal, CNC machined AISI 1045 forged steel hub) and a spare crank sitting in a block on the shelf. Do I throw the spare crank in, single keyway powerbond balancer and do...

Squishy's custom 2x2 subframe connectors

Decided it was time for some subframe connectors, decided on 1/8 2x2(as per nhra requirements not that it matters where im at) full length, plate under torque box. Re: Harmonic balancer for blower

Got the timing cover off cleaned the crank and took some better pics, does it look salvageable with a new woodruff key and balancer? Balancer bolt had to have backed off. Re: Harmonic balancer for blower

The woodruff keyway on the crankshaft is wallowed out pretty good closest to the balancer for about 1/2" maybe more,
thinking I need to change the crankshaft...
if that's the case may as well get a second woodruff key machined on the new crank and a blower specific balancer.

I Broke a chunk off of the last one on the part that slides in the crank seal, this one the keyway is about 3/4inch wide now on the balancer side, I torqued it to spec when I threw it back together but apparently I need way more torque on it. Hope the crank is okay gotta pull timing cover and see if...

It should run fine without a tune since the Maf is calibrated, obviously better with a tune but should be fine without, I ran an E cam performer headed 30lber and calibrated Maf combo for years without a tune, only tuned it since the supercharger

1/4 mile passes, warm or cold?

Some guys push there car to the line, fire it up, burnout and make a pass, others drive it to the line, any advantage to one over the other?

Should get to the track this month or early next, and just wondering, I had always just drove to the line with the car already warm?

If you go blow through make sure u can put it in a long straight section with no bends or anything so you don't get a lot of turbulence if u can help it, I found out the hard way what a lot of turbulence at the Maf can cause by having the bypass valve too close, bucking and driveability issues... id...
