Re: Moates Quater Horse availability

Michael, That would have been nice to know about the Moates QH before I spent over $500- purchasing one from C#*e Tuning. I was forced to buy it with BE with a dongle that I will never use. What is the BE part of it worth to sell off the BE w/dongle? Is it something that someone would purchase from me to resell?

Fuel lines completed. Ford spring lock to AN fittings and SS braided hose. Upper fittings are opposite of the lower fuel line connections.

Re: Returnless fuel lines with an A9L

barless66 It seems that you could uncomplicate the thought process by using the '89 to '93 fuel rails and add a return line. I don't think that you will hurt the value of your "antique Mustang" if you have to make a few extra holes to hold a line or one for a line to pass through. I've seen a return line plumbed into the drain plug hole on early Mustang tanks.
You are already stepping way away from original installing a 1989 5.0 Fox body powertrain.
Hey, you could go return less and make the engine coil-near-plug and use the 2003 Ford sedan PCM. You would need an EEC-V powertrain harness to make it work. I take that back. It would involve a lot more specific parts than just a PCM and powertrain harness.
However, I would go with Michael's educated recommendations.

Re: Returnless fuel lines with an A9L

barless66, Here is a complete tank/fuel pump kit for the '65 and '66 Mustang for about $100- more from Speedway. It has multiple lines so I suppose that you could "cap" any extra ports not being used.

Re: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 for Coil-near-plug swap

Michael,
I see now that my '99 pass car bin file says CRAIB and not CRAI8.
The file I was suggesting writing over Is another '99 PCM.
I'm familiar with flash bin file upgrades.
I'm reading each parameter and wondering if some need changed and would some have inconsequential results.
There are some that I'm not sure if they need changed. I've eliminated the CATS and rear o2 sensors so of course I would want to turn those off.
Also I've eliminated the EGR.
I'm curious as to whether the gear ratio or tire size needs to be adjusted. The '97 Mountaineer has 3.73 gears and p235 70 r15s.

Re: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 for Coil-near-plug swap

I'm looking through parameters and I have several in the capture pic. Some of them I feel confident about switching off. Some not. I see PATS is switched off. Number of rear hegos could be changed to "0". OBDII_TST_EGR can be not set to skip test. Others I'm not sure of.

Re: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 for Coil-near-plug swap

Thanks for the info. You saved me a lot of time.
I've just opened the YYA2 bin obtained from this site and I'm looking at the end of it.

So even though it says CRAI8, it is different but it works with the xdf file?
I also possess a stock ARA3 flashed PCM from the junkyard. Should I write over the original file as well?
The 2nd PCM just mentioned has an ARA1 sticker on it but has been dealership or motor pool flashed to ARA3.

Re: 1997 Mountaineer 5.0 for Coil-near-plug swap

Friday later evening.
In preparation for the first firing, I'm doing a little work in TunerPro on the laptop here. I have my 1999 CV passenger car bin file loaded into TunerPro along with the CRAI8_230620 xdf file. I'm wanting to switch off PATS and adjust the gear ratio. Also, I want to switch off the rear O2 sensors. Also, you can see by the open parameter windows, I have several questions. I haven't changed anything and I assume that when I do, I will "save as" the file with a new name.
This snip is a pic of the PATS info as it is in the virgin bin file AFAIK. Also, in the snip you will see what I found when I searched for PATS and rear axle.

Here is a snippet of the bin file identification at the end of the file in hex.

Saturday early morning. I have been looking through parameters and flags.
This is not entirely virgin territory to me. Last summer when I had been attempting to purchase tuning and read/write equipment, there were delays caused by either the pandemic or the Russian/Ukraine war. I spent a lot of the delay time looking at files in TunerPro and TunerPro RT. Now I'm looking at all of this to make the changes that I need to make. Making changes is new territory for me. I do understand that to look at bin files in TunerPro, you use the 256K bin files. When it is time to flash the updated bin file, you convert to 224K to use the read/flash tool, Scanmatik in my case, to flash in the updated file via the OBDII port. Below is a screenshot from TunerPro currently.

It looks like I need to set PATS to disable it.
Now I'm studying about the Disable Hego 2

Any tips would be appreciated.

Re: 351w 36-1 alignment

I see what you are saying now. The last year (1982) 302 28 oz truck balancer. With that special balancer and with the 36-1 ring installed someone could make themselves a "302" coil-near-plug set-up as well.
I can see some young guys saying to themselves, "what is all this 28 oz balance stuff about?"
I've never heard a reason as to why Ford went to the 50 oz balancer.
Thanks for clarifying about the 1981 special balancer part.

Re: 351w 36-1 alignment

Is the original application a EFI 5.8 in a 1996 Ford truck with OBD1?
