Re: Scanmatik 2 Pro & PCMFlash module #29 successful read

Take a look at the Bank order swap utility here: https://www.customecm.com/custom-software

I have it and it makes it easy to switch between the 224k 1809 bank order and the 256k 0189 order. It can of course be done with a hex editor, but it's a pain.

Re: Reading GM TCMs

Is it still available? I was looking into that, however, I haven't been able to find any references for purchasing it, I've only been able to find updates, and it seems like their OBD2 stuff was sold/licensed to Jet Performance Products... I don't need a full tuning package, I'm just looking to read and maybe flash BIN files.

Reading GM TCMs

This is a 'bit' out of the normal scope of this forum, which is why I've put it in 'The Range', but I figured Decipha or someone else here might know of something... Does anyone know of any software that I would be able to use with my MDI2 to read a T87 TCM with and save a raw/unencrypted BIN (Bonus points if it could also read a T87A, extra bonus points if it could flash too)? This issue is more of a software thing than a hardware thing, as obviously, I've used my MDI2 to read raw BINs out of Ford EEC-V's (and flash, of course) using PCMFlash, so it really comes down to the software to do it. I've communicated with Oleg directly and he said PCMFlash doesn't support GM TCMs, and inferred that it doesn't support most GM ECMs, with Bosch ECMs likely being the exception. Any suggestions?

Re: Using Ford IDS and VCM to flash tune?

m-barans wrote: 2023 Oct 18, 22:47 Ok. We have Roush software and Ford software and they can both use the VCM pass through device to flash calibrations onto PCMs. File types look different between them. Whipple emails bin files and we have flashed them. Conceptually I believe I am missing something. Are all the tuning software companies just tweaking the strategy so all other's interfaces are confused? What is needed to take a RZASA custom bin made in Tunerpro art so that it can be flashed? Also, is it recommended to purchase the BE flash and QH package? Looks like both pieces of hardware are becoming or have already become obsolete.

My current objectives are to

1: flash a great base tune on the car in case my QH fails me.

2: be able to continue adjusting cal and dialing in with the QH
I don't think you could use Ford IDS to flash a TunerPro BIN. Your best bet there is PCMFlash, which should work with your VCM assuming it's J2534. I use my GM MDI2 with PCMFlash to do exactly what you describe with my Cougar (Yes, the GM MDI2 works with the Ford PCM - Chrysler too).

Re: 04 Mach 1 switching from std to auto.

You could write an auto tune to a manual trans (I assume), but because the manual trans PCM lacks the physical hardware to control the transmission, it won't work (and may set codes). You need to find a PCM from an auto trans vehicle.

Re: CME's and sensitive electronics

Based on EMP simulation testing videos I've seen, it seems unlikely that such events would have catastrophic results with cars. The testing found that most vehicles were either totally unaffected or only experienced minor issues like stalling, but being able to be restarted immediately, or in some cases, non-critical systems were damaged, but the vehicles still functioned.

Re: Pcmflash mcmflash recommendations

The Getting Started page says PCMflash or MMCFlasher. From looking at MMCFlasher, it appears to be basically the same thing as PCMFlash.

Re: Fuel pump relay buzz

I have a 95 Cougar, return style fuel, with a 2004 Mustang PCM, COP swapped, etc, and I have the same issue with the relay buzz... no FBFG2 tuning solution I've found can make it work right, not even decipha's FBFG2 tunerpro strategy, however, it does work 100% correct with his FBGI0 strategy and base file, but there's a big learning curve for me to get the car to run right on that base file. For now, without a better option until I am at a point where I'd want to pay for a custom tune based on his FBGI0 strategy (which would be after I finally swap the DOHC motor I have on a stand in), I've grounded out the CCRM fuel pump relay so if the key is on, the pump is on. Not ideal, but it functions. The RZASA strategy may be different than the FBFG2, and changing the appropriate settings in the tune may make it work right as it does in the FBGI0 tune, but if it doesn't, you may have to resort to grounding the fuel pump relay like I had to.

Re: ECU Tools security dongle & Mongoose Pro for Ford

Being J2534, it should almost certainly work with PCMFlash, however, depending on what you are looking to read/flash, it may not work for your application. If you're looking to read/flash something newer with CAN, then it should work, but if you're working with older PWM/SCP based EEC-V's, then I don't think it will. AESWave seems to carry both of them.
