Re: Crank trigger angle

dleach1407 wrote: 2023 May 04, 18:02 I don't know how well that will work out for you. I have that same pickup or at least one that looks the same. Is your magnetic? If not I don't think it will work. The one I have depends on magnets in the trigger wheel and it's designed to trigger an msd ignition box like a 6al
It's a 2 wire VR sensor for the crank, and also for the cam position sensor. I got the wheel and the CPS (with VR) from 64-Bit.
For the wheel, I machined an 1/8th off the front of the snout, right behind lower pulley. The indicator's from Innovators West.

The first sensor I got, was an Innovators West, or Speedmaster, was a 2 wire VR but didn't seem to be magnetic, like the Ad said. Sent it back to Summit.
The current one is an MSD 8505 Magnetic, but only to a certain degree. Nowhere as strong as a VSS sensor, or the stock 1996 351W Misfire dealio for that matter, but don't know if it needs to be.
I've seen others, but so far haven't pursued.

I need to find out the specs on what the PCM is expecting for amplitude, as it varies with speed. Since the 408 completion is still aways away, I'm going to fab up an adapter to spin the wheel to see what the sensor output is with an O'Scope.

Anyone have an idea on specs?

Re: Crank trigger angle

Here's what I'm in the process of doing on my 408, but I'm not too sure of the "stick out", beings it will be in a desert race Ranger (rocks, etc). Might eventually notch the backside of the balancer and fab a similar bracket. It will be easy to slide the pickup to adjust. Instead of there, you could mount anywhere in the 360° circle, as long as it's in the correct relation to the missing tooth.

Did those connectors, that either you, or someone else, was talking about earlier, work?

Re: Mustang SBF EECIV to EECV Swap

Here's my 408. I am using the 9006 Professional Products Damper, the 81007 Pulley spacer, the 64 bit wheel, the 64bit cam sensor. Just got an Innovators West Crank 931-3125 trigger bracket. It will be easy to take an 1/8th of the back or the pulley spacer. And I think the PCE626.1001 from speedmaster79.com will work.

dleach1407 wrote: 2022 Feb 05, 21:02 Below are the plug wires i ended up getting that i can confirm will work. They positivity lock on the coil terminal and clear the headers. The boots are nice and tight. They basically fit like a stock plug wire at the plug and are the perfect length for tall valve covers on a SBF with coils mounted on the valve covers. They are 9.5 inches

Any progress on this?

TexasA&M wrote: 2022 Feb 11, 18:15 ok, I'll look into pulling the ECM out and taking a look. Any way to see the label without removing? I'm actually planning to do some interior work this weekend (wiring in new lights), so could pull the kick panel and have a look.
If you haven't figured it out yet, it's behind the E-brake, and access to it is from the engine compartment, so the easiest is to remove the drivers front tire, then the inner liner, get a mirror, and read the label. Kind of a pain. Maybe just go to Autozone, Oreillys, or someone with a code reader - it might tell you.
