AEM x-series Wideband

Installing the X- series AEM Wideband and I noticed some of the wiring is a little different than in the write up.I installed a new pin in terminal 27 for the 0-5v input on the ECM. The new gauge has a 0-5 volt ground wire that needs to be hooked up also. Reading the instructions it looks like they would prefer to have it hooked to the sensor ground or what I think Ford would call the signal return wire in my electrical diagram book. I assume the older AEM widebands are grounded internally to the gauge ground so this was not needed and seemed to work just fine. There is a nice ground point right next to the EEC IV that would be easy to use. Has anyone used one of these new widebands and encountered this?

Re: New 363 in a 95 GT

Thanks for the info on the pins, I have bee away for a while and haven't checked this page recently. Just pulled the ECM tonight to put the quarter horse in, seems to take me forever to find time to get things done lately.

Re: New 363 in a 95 GT

I know that temperature will not change my compression ratio, maybe I should have worded that differently. It seems to be a common thought by many in the industry that reducing engine temperature helps with detonation resistance. I have no idea if I will have detonation problems or not but I'm pretty sure that I'm pushing the limits. Engine specs are now in my profile. If you think we can work with what I have and use a 195 stat I'm all for it. If I need to get better gas or use a quality octane booster, I will.

Thanks

Re: New 363 in a 95 GT

No problem at all adding another bung. Should I keep it a certain distance or clocked differently from the factory one? I understand that I need to keep an up angle on it to help the sensor live longer.

I'm sure I have a harness around here I can sacrifice a pin from.

I have read the pre tune info several times and have a couple questions.

I have been planning on using a 180 degree thermostat on this engine,I read you recommend a 195. I know that a thermostat alone won't make the engine run cooler but I do have an upgraded radiator and water pump also. My thinking was that keeping it cooler would help with my borderline too high compression and let me run on the 92 octane I have available.

The other thing I noticed was my car has a black TFI module mounted in the heatsink. I'm pretty sure this is the original module for the car, I had a livewires "dynamod" module in it long ago but I'm sure I replaced it with the original some time ago. When I look up a factory replacement Motorcraft module for my car it also shows a black module. Am I missing something?

One last question is do I need to reference my user name here when I make my donation so you know who it's from?

New 363 in a 95 GT (ecu pcm pins wedgelock)

I am working on a few final installation details and will soon be ready to start a remote tuning session. I have just a couple questions before I start. I have a quarter horse that I luckily ordered a year ago and have downloaded the tuner pro software. I will fill in all of the specific engine details soon. I will be using a slot MAF recommended by you in a 4 inch inlet tube with a screen. I will also have the Siemens Deka 80LB injectors purchased from your recommended supplier in a stock 95 fuel rail with a factory regulator.

My car will have shorty headers and a Bassani X-pipe for now. After reading the pre-tune information I will have to use only one O2 sensor and it should be the right bank? That would leave the left side bung available for a Wideband I think.I also do not have provisions for an EGR anymore so I should be able to hook the 0-5 volt output from the Wideband to pin 27 of the 60 pin harness at the ECM.

I read that you like the 30-4110 AEM Wideband. Are the newer style X-series models also acceptable? Mainly looking at this model to match my other two gauges and be easier to see.

Do you have a good source for the harness side terminals of the 60 pin so I could remove the old pin 27 and leave it intact and just slide in a new pin and wire form the Wideband? Google searches for this were all over the map for this.

I installed a new 255 fuel pump in the stock location and am using the stock fuel lines. Is it recommended to bypass the fuel pump relay in the CCRM for this application?

Anything else I am missing?

Thanks
Ken
