Re: Where to put MAF

I bought a kit from CG Fabrication. He's been doing it for 26 years so I'm hoping he knows best by now. LOL.
Caleb is a great guy to deal with and his welding and kit fitment is top notch. I actually did dual wastegates to keep boost creep in check.

Re: Where to put MAF

dleach1407 wrote: 2021 Jun 12, 13:10 you can position the maf any way you want but look at the way the air is going to flow and try to position the maf to catch as much air as possible. With that said, in my opinion the optimal place would be right where the other pipe runs next to it so you cant use the optimal position. I think anywhere in that 6 inch pipe would be fine but wait to see if anyone else chimes in. Not a fan of where that bov is in relation to the maf.. You might get some weird readings with them being so close. My bov is really close to the turbo on the other side of the intercooler.

Hopefully the bov position doesn't effect anything. This is my first turbo build so I have a lot to learn.

Re: Where to put MAF

dleach1407 wrote: 2021 Jun 12, 00:42 Straight section in the tube that goes from the intercooler to the throttle body is your best bet. With the curves in front of it, you would probably benefit from an air straightener but you would have to cut the pipe apart to install the straightener so you would need to weld it or add another coupler along with adding a bead to each of the pipes where you cut it. I would try to get by without a straightener so you dont need to cut your pipes. I made my own so I installed it before welding.
In the third pic down from the top; that straight section is 6" long. That's probably the only place to put it. I have a weld on flange for the maf. Being that section of pipe is pretty vertical; how should I position the maf or does it matter?
Thanks!

Where to put MAF

I just finished the cold side of my turbo install and need advice where to place the slot maf. There's not much in the way of straight pipe and there's plenty of bends.

Should be pin 33. I dont have the wire color but its the EGR wire you tap your wideband output to. According to veryuseful.com the wire color is brown/pink but its for sure pin 33
Thank you!

400hp is nothing for a 190 pump.

All of this is in the pre tune info
Oh crap. I missed the E85 talk.

Re: fuel pump questions

It's my opinion that you don't need 2 pumps. I'm willing to bet one 340lph pump will be fine for your hp. Did you run new wiring to the pumps and what gauge?
I had a similar issue until I went to heavier gauge wiring from the battery to the pump. I now get a good 14v at the pump.
As an example; I ran a 190lph pump on a 400hp 347 with 34lb injectors. I never ran out of fuel.

Re: Synthetic vs Dino lube in rear diff

I just remembered that I'm running the Cobra carbon clutches in the rear. I wonder if the carbon clutches require different fluid?

Re: Synthetic vs Dino lube in rear diff

decipha wrote: 2021 May 28, 13:59 Because conventional can never hurt anything.

Synthetic if thats all the diff has ever had is fine to continue to use.

However if going from conventional to synthetic or putting synthetic in a diff not specifically designed for it then it will cause excessive wear on the clutches and much more prone to humming and even causing leaks which can further damage the diff. Tossing conventional in a diff designed for synthetic is perfectly fine too. Hence its best to do conventional.
Interesting. I just installed new Ford gears and 31 spline Trac Lok. I did the 500 mile break in using conventional. Being in Phoenix; I would think that synthetic would handle the extreme heat better. The only time synthetic causes leaks is when it cleans away sludge left behind from dino oil. This sludge plugs up would be leaks in gasket gaps and such. This is often due to lack of maintenance. Quality synthetic has much better detergents.
