Re: 6R80 with EEC-IV/EEC-V

you can always use a 6r ecu to just control the trans no problem, same as the 4r and 6r people have done for years with 2 ecus.

im not sayibg the 10r is a bad trans but theres little to no benefit swapping from a 4r for the 6 or 10.

What same version vehicles are you referring to ?

Re: 6R80 with EEC-IV/EEC-V

I think your information is slightly biased

Ive ran 900hp through stock 4r borg warner clutches, in fact some of the "built" 4r's use stock clutches.

I would say stock for stock they are pretty similar. The 6r does have a better factory converter but thats about it.

fuel economy is directly proportional to final gearing. There could be some theoretical increase for city only driving but I dont think it would be anything measureable.

Id be interested to know how much people have picked up economy wise when doing 4r to 6r swaps and their type of driving.

I hate the 10R, all it does is shift constantly.

Re: 6R80 with EEC-IV/EEC-V

no its not possible, simply not enough hardware or ram or rom space

just curious, why would you say the 6r or even the 10r has any advantage over the 4r much less consider it a significant upgrade?

with all 3 trans you only have 3 useable gears for any drag racing situations where your actually making power. The powerglide is only a 2 spd and still out performs all of them.

racing aside for a weekend warrior or cruiser they are all pretty much the same.

Having daily'd all 3 in similar vehicles (mustangs) I have no preference. To me they are all basically the same and I wouldnt prefer any over the other. Then again I would take a manual trans over any of them any day of the week.

Just curious what advantages it has for you specifically?

Re: Clock speeds of any/all boxes**.

everything is time based but its easy enough to update the timer table

no benefit as the clock speed far exceeds whats needed

instead of editing the post its best to reply

rear o2s doesn't affect anything just sets a code

any of the automatic cals will control a 4r70w without any changes needed no problem
