Re: A9L Error Code 15

Ok that would be great if I'm removing the KAM clear at key on patch incorrectly. Hell maybe I'm applying it incorrectly too.

Here is what I'm doing....

Assume I have the patch applied. I go into emulation mode, open the KAM Clear at key on patch, click remove patch, click apply.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Re: A9L Error Code 15

Ok I tried the new bin, and disabled the clear KAM patch. Still got Error Code 15

This morning I swapped in a different A9L, just to rule out hardware. Same BIN. Still got Error Code 15.

This seems to be linked to the BIN? I did not change much from what you had. Disabled patch, idle speed 900, tweaked mass air curve a touch

New problem, which seems to come with the delta-n modification(my old tune wasn't doing this). See the attachment(DFSO Spark Retard). When the throttle closes (Fuel_APT_last=-1), spark advance drops down to single digits. Looking at the tables added for Delta N it seems to be doing what they are set at. The question is....why? I'm getting exhaust backfires on decel, which I never had before.

This table(FN111) seems weird to me.
FN111.JPG
multiplied by these(FN841, FN839)?

Also, and this is with both new and old tunes, when I'm cruising on the hairy edge of closed throttle(for me 60 mph, ~1750rpm), the motor goes lean and 'clunks'. This is happening when fuel_apt_last=0. It seems to be tied with the tp_rel_calc, when it drops between 10-15 counts. Below 10 it kicks into closed throttle, and it goes lean. Above 15, part throttle, back to normal. But when it drops below 15, above 10, it still seems to go lean. This is super annoying, as my drive to work is a 60mph 2 lane cruise. Any way to turn it off?

Am I missing something simple here?

Re: A9L Error Code 15

Good to know on that. Makes sense. I'll pull the tap from the gauge. Hopefully this is why I've been pulling my hair out. Man this thread is a twofer for me!

Thanks for all the time you have put into this site. I know I appreciate it!

Have a good night.

Re: A9L Error Code 15

Awesome thank you! Good to know about the KAM clear patch.

I assume I use the latest xdf/adf files with this? I'll give it a whirl and let you know. Curious, was it difficult to convert between the 2 files? Does that Tunerpro compare tool work? I kinda figured since you tweaked the BIN base code that it would not.

I have been going around and around with the closed loop, and using the O2s in general. It leans out the fuel at idle so much that it won't run. When we were on Power Tour last year I had a couple of times where I had to pull over and reload a previous tune. I finally just gave up. It runs better.

I have a narrow band meter with a switch for both hegos so I can look at either of them live, and while my wide band says lean, they both say rich. I have replaced them, checked wiring, verified the ground, etc etc. I think it's the motor. My wide band seems to give better results, both based on how it runs, and my highly accurate wide band O2 sensing nose :)

I think it's a combo of the long tubes, x pipe and cam overlap(~65 degrees).

I really appreciate the help!

A9L Error Code 15

I keep getting this code and it's making my check engine light flash rapidly, which is terribly annoying. I just about have my tune dialed, car runs awesome, no issues whatsoever. I'm afraid the bin got corrupted in some inconsequential way. I've been playing with it for almost a year now, so lot's of opportunity. It's been doing this for a while, can't really pinpoint what or when. Occasionally the light will stop flashing, but I don't have a pattern yet.

I've tried...
Replacing the capacitors in the A9L...didn't help.
The software says 'checksum updated' down in the footer when I save the file. Does it load that down to the quarterhorse automatically? In any case I've also tried downloading the file and it doesn't help

Quarterhorse hardware, new battery(didn't help)
TunerPro 5.00.9995.00
Started with older A9L2_200713.bin(was a while ago)
GUFX_200726.xdf
Decipha_200714.adx

I know there are newer versions of the files out there, but the thought of starting over.....I've spent some time getting idle and daspot working to my liking. I'm so close to being done with this!

BIN is attached.

I really hope I'm doing something dumb.

I appreciate any suggestions!

36lb Injector and MAF question

I'm running 36lb injectors, had them flow tested at 39 psi so I'm fairly confident in that. Also purchased a 36lb calibrated 105mm Mass Air meter from Pro M, with calibration file. I am using a WB, QH, Tunerpro, A9L2 start tune. I have gotten the tune decent enough to run and drive around, but am running into a couple things with the final dial in....

1. Injectors. Once I get the high slope much more than 38-39, it doesn't seem to do much. I see in the writeup that the 18Mhz EEC V's max out at 40, don't see anything for the EEC IV. Am I hitting a limit here? Is this 'scaling' territory?

2. MAF - if I try to piecemeal edit, as in modify certain sub-sets of cells, I get a weird part throttle hiccup. I don't remember having this problem the last time I did this (2021) with a 24 lb setup. The last time I used an evenly spaced curve from this site, this time it's factory Pro M(not evenly spaced). When I put the original MAF curve back its fine. I assume there is some type of smoothing issue going on. Is there any way in TunerPro to 'smooth' data. I'm pretty sure I've seen this on HPTuner software. I tried doing it by eyeball, but my eyeball ain't all that great. So my question, is this a glitch in the matrix with newer versions of the software, or is it a smoothing issue? How do others do this?

3. Tunerpro graphs and histograms....are there directions anywhere for this? I'm using an excel spreadsheet that I created to dial in my fuel, but have this vague feeling that something much easier already exists. For example iMAF vs WB Error. Is it in TunerPro somewhere?

4. My 75mm throttle body whistles a tune at part throttle barely above idle. Anybody experience this? Is it just the price of going fast?

5. is there a list type explanation for all of the logged parameters?

Motor details(prob doesn't help but fun to talk about)
1966 Mustang coupe, (new!) 347, AFR 185, Systemax, 75mm T-Body, 105mm Mass Air, Bullet Roller Cam, 1 5/8 long tubes, 3" X-pipe into 2.5" Dynomax Ultraflows and 2.5" tailpipes, T5(borrowed time), 3.50 9".

I have a dyno session on Friday, and am leaving for Hot Rod PT 2023 this weekend. Got to get this done, and I appreciate your help!

Thanks,
Jonathan

Re: Scaling Percentage A9L2

Thanks for the explanation! I figured there was an in depth reason for your logic. Now I understand a little bit better.

I never changed the K-Constant, so I'm good there. I just need to start over with this knowledge in mind. Establish a baseline tune, save it, create a new tune from that baseline, and when I change the high slope, use the compare function to check against the baseline tune. I was definitely chasing my tail yesterday.

One final question. If I change the high slope in emulate mode, does it automatically change the other values at the same time in emulate mode, or is it more of a tunerpro only change that you don't catch until the next time you download? I think this may have been tripping me up as well.

Thanks again!

Re: Scaling Percentage A9L2

Ok I've been playing with this some more, and this might be obvious to most on this forum, but it did trip me up. Every time you change the high slope, as the instructions say, you need to check the other SP** functions. The one thing that caught me is that, I have all the little windows pulled up for all the SP** functions, and they do not all update live in tunerpro when the high slope changes. The only one I saw change live is the scaling factor. You have to close the little windows and open them back up again to see the change.

How does this auto calc work with the emulate functionality? Does tunerpro update all of the SP** params when changing the high slope in emulate?
